Controlled quantum teleportation might one day become a building block for future quantum Internet. Its first implementation on quantum bits has recently been reported by scientists from the Joint laboratory of Optics of Palacky University and Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences. Using this idea, one can significantly increase the quantum data flow in multi-user networks and even across large distances.
The observation of associated production of the top quark pair and the Higgs Boson is a process where direct interaction of these two heaviest particles of the Standard model of elementary particles comes into play. The production of the Higgs boson is accompanied with the top quark pair creation only in about 1% of events and for the observation of this process data from several decay channels have been combined.
Geneva, 14 August 2017. Physicists from the ATLAS experiment at CERN have found the first direct evidence of high energy light-by-light scattering, a very rare process in which two photons – particles of light – interact and change direction.
