Application and development of algorithms for pattern recognition in images from the particle camera MX-10

Popis: 

The particle camera MX-10 provides detailed 2D information of the energy deposition by ionizing particles on the 256x256 pixel sensor. The goal of the thesis is to identify single-pixel traces, straight muon tracks and patterbs of highly ionizing particles from cosmic rays on board of commercial air planes and use and further develop the pattern recognition algorithms for each kind of particles, with potential application of measuring spectra per particle species based on the ionization losses or the dose at ground level or in airplanes.
